Wickenby Wings and Wheels 2011 is over for another year. On Father's Day weekend, 18th & 19th June, hundreds of people visited Wickenby Airshow, open weekend and fly-in. The weather was a little blowy and wet, but we still had visiting aircraft from around the UK, a large collection of vintage cars and motorcycles, plus children's entertainments, 4x4 off-roading and great food.

Our airshow entertained the crowds both days, with displays from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Hurricane and Spitfire, Paul Day in the two seat Spitfire, the Breighton Collection, Airco DH2, the iconic Tiger Moth, breath-taking aerobatics from Europe's top ranked pilots and many more!

Saturday evening's 'Fun of the 40s' charity dinner-dance was the most successful evening event yet with nearly all attendees in 1940s dress. The authentic 1940s marquee was a great backdrop for the RAF Waddington swing band and 1940s disco. The ticket included a hot carved buffet followed by strawberries and cream, and the bar and dance floor were both busy all night long. There were breath-taking aerial displays from Paul Day in his Spitfire, Gerald Cooper in the Sbach 300 and sunset aerobatics from the Swip Duo. This event was staged to raise monies for 'Lincolnshire Air Ambulance'. Details of the cheque presentation to follow on our news page shortly.

Planning for our 2012 event is now underway - it has been confirmed for the weekend of 16th & 17th June, 2012.
