Wickenby Wings and Wheels 2009 has drawn to a close raising record monies for Flights for Life charity (no. 1129461), which launched at Wickenby Airfield over the weekend.

The 20th & 21st June 2009 saw Wickenby Airfield abuzz with activities and visiting aircraft and members of the public. The airfield played host to aircraft of all shapes and sizes from around the UK, vintage vehicles (including motorbikes, cars, tractors and steam) the Landrover Club and tank rides. Also there was a 1940s re-enactor meet, children's attractions, trade stands and food from the 'Flying Fox Bistro', hog roast and strawberries and icecream.

Over £3000 was raised for the 'Flights for Life' charity by the raffle and auction of promises during our Saturday night hangar concert, and everyone had a great time!

WWW09"I just wanted to say a BIG thank you for a wonderful day. My son had a trip in a 2 seated plane, he had a land rover ride and also a tank ride too, aswell as looking around the stalls, having a go at the games and watching the planes take off and land. He came home and told his Dad that he had to best day ever! So thank you very very much for a great day and we are looking forward to next years event."

Wickenby Wings and Wheels 2008:

Wickenby Wings and Wheels 2008 was a great sucess comprising an airfield fly-in, with visiting aircraft from around the country.

Saturday and Sunday saw the gates open to the public as the airfield hosted vintage vehicles and steam engines, tank rides, steam car rides, children's entertainments, trade stands and a hog roast.

On Saturday evening the WW2 north hangar hosted a 40s dinner and dance with three course meal, bar and dance floor accompanied by a live swing band.

The fund raising auction of promises raised lots for the Flights for Life Charity and everyone commented on what an excellent event it was. Plans are afoot for more hangar concerts so watch this space!

A huge thank you to all those who helped make the event a great hit with all those who attended.
